"This has always been my favorite episode, but is rarely shown. It scared me as a kid, and makes me cry because I laugh so hard now as an adult! You can't beat the looks on Barney and Gomer's faces in that house. Those buldging eyes in the painting...YIKES! here are the best phrases: "Gomer, GOMER.... GOME???" -Barney I guess the cellar would be downstairs? -Gomer "That's just an axe, that doesn't mean it's the one Rimshaw used." -Barney (direct comeback) "Its probably just the lighting..." -Gomer I guess that makes you sheriff, now? -Gomer I wrote this for my brother, Mark, who, like me, laughs his tail off when he watches this episode. "I saw this on cable recently and I saw the movie "Gost and Mr chicken" for the first time. The movie is ok but the haunted house scene is so short (about ten minutes) and the rest of the movie is kind of boring. I was really expecting to see more scary scenes. It never shows how Luther in the movie gets out of the house after he feints. I also read Don Knotts' book "Barney Fife and other characters I've Known" and he said he was inspired by the Andy Griffith show to make the movie and he even hired the writers from TAGS to make the movie. It was even Andy G. who suggested to use the phrase "atta boy Luther!" " - Clara from Riverside

"MY FAV EPISODE!!! I still watch it over and over. Andy Griffith was "my first love" as a little girl. Even though I didnt get to marry him, sigh, I did marry a man named "Darling" hehe so I get to be a part of the Mayberry "crowd" anyway. For our First Anniversary, where did we go?? You got, MT. AIRY, NC. smiles :)" - Dyanne O'Neal-Darling from Winsor, ON Canada

"This is, also, my favorite episode. I have never liked "The Pickle Story," for some reason, so I'm glad that "The Haunted House" beats it! Barney and Gomer are my favorite characters, so of course, I love this episode. Rest in Peace, Mr. Knotts, your talents will be, and have been, missed." - Nadine from California

"This is absolutely my 6 year old son's favorite. We have a bunch of episodes on tape from a TV Land Marathon. We have watched this one dozens of times. "I want to watch the Rimshaw House" he says. What impresses me after many viewings is the outstanding musical background score, keyed to the movements and events so well as to really enhance the mood of the show. Pay attention next time you see this one and you will appreciate the work that must have gone into scoring this episode." - Jack Anderson from MA
