"This one's one of my faves, in part b/c of the moral lessons it teaches and in part b/c it's so doggone funny. Imagine that --- Opie throwing a temper tantrum. He's usually such a goody-2-shoes. Poor ol' Arnold Winkler -- had his daddy fooled into thinking he was merely a kid with emotional problems. Boy was he in for a rude awakening! LOL I agree that this episode would be politically incorrect in advocating a spanking as punishment, but it would be politically correct in one way --- Andy telling Arnold's daddy, "Now you look here, you're that boy's father! You're responsible for his actions! Now he's too young to be locked up. But if you're not gonna take responsibility, maybe I oughta lock YOU up! Y'ever think o' that?" In reading the other comments I was surprised to find Ronnie Dapo's own cousin as one of the people who posted. " - Big Bad Bobcat from Tyler, Texas

"This episode would be considered politically incorrect today. Imagine--a spoiled child who deserves to be spanked! Many modern parents would instead be searching for the "root causes" of their children's problems rather than taking corrective measures to stop them." - John Robertson from Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

"A lot of "small stuff" was cut out of this episode, but it's stuff that helped keep the continuity in the episode. Arnold tells Opie that his new bike cost $70! In the sponsor spot after the show, Opie has a tantrum to get Vanilla Jello Pudding! " - Rusty from North Carolina

"Arnold Winkler should never actted out with his bad attitude or throwing a temper tantrum and he should learn from his mistake and what that caused him to loose his bike or he should got punished" - Frederick Miller from Santa Cruz

"My favorite line is when Opie tells Andy "What it is Pa, is that now adays kids get 75 cents allowance instead of 25." And then Andy says "75 cents! That's alot of money for a young one, and in a years time that comes to lets see theres 365 days in a year," and Barney says "Comes to 40 dollars a year." Andy says, "that's a lot of money." Opie says They get it Pa, and they don't have to work for it like I do." - Samie from Colcord, Oklahoma
